Next year's NEOEA Day is Friday, October 18, 2013. NEOEA Day represents your dues dollars at work. Attending NEOEA Day programs, most of which provide growth opportunities at lower-than-usual prices, is an excellent way to get some of your NEOEA dues dollars back!
The other educators who established the North Eastern Ohio Teachers Association in 1869 could not have anticipated many of the changes which have happened in our profession: higher academic standards for teachers, educator unionization, high-stakes testing, and the inclusion of so many educators besides classroom teachers.
They might recognize NEOEA Day in its present form, but they certainly could not have anticipated the internet and its ability to make information widely available and searchable. That's what we're doing this year with the venerable NEOEA Day catalog. We've been hearing that many of our members aren't using the catalog to identify their program choices for NEOEA Day, so we're changing how we make that information available.
- What you'll receive is our guide to NEOEA Day "at a glance," identifying the categories, titles, and locations of this year's sessions.
- This guide is also available at neoea.org/NEOEADay/AtAGlance.html; and the online version contains links to the descriptions of all 39 NEOEA Day programs.
- Want the traditional catalog? We're sending them to your local, just as we have in the past; but the number we're sending is based on your local's participation in NEOEA Day over the past few years. We're pretty sure we're sending enough, but you can find the catalog online at neoea.org/ND2013.pdf.
We hope you find that these alternate ways to get information about NEOEA Day makes it easier for you to participate. Perhaps we'll see you on October 18!
This chart shows the status of each program and will be updated each day. Programs appearing in green are still open; programs appearing in yellow may still have space; and programs appearing in red are no longer accepting registrations.
In any case, do not just "drop in": call first! Telephone numbers are provided to help contact presenters.
Most of NEOEA’s local affiliates have contracts that reserve NEOEA Day for professional development activities, and many local school districts call the NEOEA office to learn the dates of future NEOEA Days. Barring any changes in state law, NEOEA Days in 2014 and 2015 will not conflict with October Count Week. NEOEA Day will take place on:
- Friday, October 18, 2013
- Friday, October 17, 2014
- Friday, October 16, 2015
As always, NEOEA seeks providers of quality programs for the upcoming NEOEA Day. The process of planning NEOEA Day begins in the spring, as NEOEA staff sends Requests for Proposals (RFP) to an extensive mailing list. Members who know of a potential NEOEA Day program provider who is not receiving the RFP packet should encourage the provider to contact the NEOEA office at 800/354-6794 to receive an RFP and be placed on the distribution list.
